Triple Threat Royale
This event has expired. Congrats to Nick Kinard on winning!!
This special CPL event takes place on Saturday, September 26th.
The Triple Threat Royale is a one-night Texas Hold'em tournament comprised of three mini-tournaments that are creatively connected. The specific details are explained below. Though this unique format is certainly something you've never played, take comfort in knowing all you need is your regular poker skills to have fun and win big money!
Players who enter The Royale will play in three consecutive poker tournaments. Each mini-tournament is special unto itself (explained in individual detail below). Each player's final placing in the first two tournaments will determine his or her starting stack in the third and final tournament. In other words, the better you play in the first two mini-tourneys, the better a chance you'll have at winning the final tourney (where the big money lives!). Let's take a look at the format of the mini-tournaments...
MINI-TOURNAMENT 1: The Short Stack Event
Expected Time Frame: 6:05pm-7:05pm
Starting Stack: 600 chips
Payout: Only the player finishing in 1st place earns cash ($10 prize) in this first tournament. All players receive points based off their final placing (point scale located further down on this website). The points earned will be recorded and used to determine starting stacks of players in the third tournament.
*The Short Stack Event will be fun and fast because luck will be a major component of success. Players will begin with only 600 chips, which is merely six big blinds at the start of the tourney. Blinds will raise every ten minutes. Play will continue until there is a single winner. That winner will receive $10 and the highest point reward. All other players will receive varying amounts of points based off their individual placing. All stats will be officially recorded for use in the last tournament.
MINI-TOURNAMENT 2: The 54-Wild Event
Expected Time Frame: 7:15pm-8:45pm
Starting Stack: 3000 chips
Payout: Only the player finishing in 1st place earns cash ($15 prize) in this second tournament. All players receive points based off their final placing (point scale located further down on this website). The points earned will be recorded and used to determine starting stacks of players in the third tournament.
*The 54-Wild Event will use a 54-card deck (utilizes two Jokers). Jokers will play as WILD, meaning they can be any value and any suit no matter where they show up. Blinds will raise every twelve minutes. Play will continue until there is a single winner. That winner will receive $15 and the highest point reward. All other players will receive varying amounts of points based off their individual placing. All stats will be officially recorded for use in the last tournament.
MINI-TOURNAMENT 3: The Triple Threat Royale Event
Expected Time Frame: 9:00pm-11:30pm
Starting Stack: Dependent on each player's performance in the previous two tournaments
Payout: The entire cash purse will be paid out to the winners of this tourney (minus $25 from the minor payouts from the first two tournaments). The amount of players registered for The Royale will determine the amount of players paid (the percentage scale of payouts is available later on this website).
*There are no twists to this final tournament. It will be straight no-limit Texas hold'em. Players will begin this tourney with various starting stacks based off the points they earned in the first two tourneys. The scale used to determine these starting stacks is found below. Blinds will raise every fifteen minutes.
Registration for The Royale is $25/player. That gets you entry into all three mini-tournaments.
The table below explains the points awarded for the first two tournaments of the event. When The Short Stack Event and The 54-Wild Event end, each player's points will be officially recorded by a director. Before the third tourney begins, each player's points from the first two tourneys will be added together for a final total.

Only no-limit Texas Hold'em will be played. Standard rules for winning hands, betting order, etc. will be followed. CPL regulations will be in effect. All money collected from entries is paid out as winnings. No cut is taken for any reason. This tournament is Texas-legal.
No table can ever hold two or more players than another table. When consolidating, the player to the right of the dealer button will be moved (as long as that player is not the table's current high or low stack).
STARTING STACKS: The five colored chips that will be used are gold, blue, green, lavender, and black. Each color is worth a denomination that only has value during a tournament. At the start of The Short Stack Event, every player will begin with 600 chips (4 blues, 4 golds). At the start of The 54-Wild Event, every player will begin with 2500 chips (1 lavender, 1 green, 8 blues, and 4 golds). All players will begin The Triple Threat Royale event with a different amount of chips depending on the total points they earn in the first two mini-tournaments. As the blinds raise higher, players will be "chipped up" to remove lower denomination colors. Chips are always rounded up. Here are the values of the colors:
Gold= $50
Blue = $100
Green = $500
Lavender = $1000
Black = $5000
Black = $5000
FORMAT AND BLINDS: Player seats will be chosen at random for all three tourneys. The starting position of the dealer button will begin at Position 3 at each table. Blinds will start at 50/100 and raise every ten minutes in tournament 1, every twelve minutes in tournament 2, and every fifteen minutes in tournament 3. Here is the blind schedule:

This event takes place at Nick's house and begins at 6pm sharp.
The official date is 9/26/15.
No rakes/cuts are ever taken on the league's behalf. Players are never charged an additional fee outside of the normal buy-in. Tournaments are privately held. All players begin events with equal odds of winning. Players are prohibited from making "deals" during a tournament. The tournament must be played until a single player has been deemed the winner. Players must follow all etiquette, including never showing another player their hand or performing any other actions viewed as cheating. No more than forty players will be registered for The Triple Threat Royale. No string betting. Cards speak for themselves. Substitutes are not permitted at any time. Only CPL chips will be used during the tournament. Rebuys, bounties, special points, and/or antes are not a part of the event. All money submitted to The Royale is non-refundable. Points are not a part of the tournament (CPL point totals are not affected whatsoever). Directors reserve the right to alter the colors and denominations of chips used during the event. If the dealer mistakenly reveals a burn card after the flop, all players shall be allowed to see the revealed card and the hand will continue. Payouts occur as soon as the tournament ends. Food is provided at a cost of $5/player for all you can eat. Only guests that purchase a wristband may eat (guests age six and under can eat free). Venue host earns a twenty dollar credit toward their buy-in. $25 gains entry into all three tournaments. The first two tournaments pay out first place only while the last tournament pays the total remaining pot. Some players will not survive even the first hand of The Short Stack Event; this is expected. There will be no breaks during the first tourney. The 54-Wild Event will contain two wild jokers that play as whatever value/suit best benefits a player at a given time; a player cannot misread their hand, even when a wild card is a part of the hand. The best possible hand always speaks for itself. The directors will award points to players after the first two tournaments according to the point scale listed above. Players cannot add, refuse, or redistribute points in any way whatsoever. Directors have full authority over point values. Patience will be necessary between tournaments while the directors recalculate chip stacks. To help the event run smoothly, players are expected to stay on-hand as the directors try to organize and begin new tournaments. Based on each player's performance during the first two tourneys, some players will have a major chip advantage in the final tournament, some players will begin with an average stack, and some players will have a major disadvantage in the final tournament. But with a chip and a chair, all players are eligible to win the big money at the end of The Triple Threat Royale Event. If a player deliberately or excessively violates CPL policy, that player may be expelled from the tournament without refund.
All rule disputes will be resolved solely by a CPL Director (Robbie Cummings or Russell Pullen).
